Google is adding some basic mobile device management capabilities to Google Apps that will let IT managers remotely wipe data from lost iPhones. The remote wipe and other management features are available to users of Google Apps Premier and Education Edition and will work for iPhones, Nokia E series devices, and Windows Mobile smartphones.

Dell announced on Tuesday a partnership with telecommunications provider Telefonica to develop mobile products and services, which would expand its smartphone business in Latin America and Europe.

The companies will jointly focus on developing "smart mobile products" and services, a Dell spokesman said, declining further comment on what devices or services would be developed as part of the partnership. However, analysts said the relationship sets the stage for Telefonica to offer Dell's mobile devices, which include smartphones, tablets, and netbooks, in the future.
