How about a planet that acts like a comet! The Hubble Space Telescope has found planet HD 209458b. NASA says it is a gas giant that is so close to its star—about 4 million miles away—that its atmosphere is escaping into space so fast that the created winds look like a sweeping tail of a comet.

The Hubble Space Telescope is helping the Dawn mission, which is going to the asteroid Vesta. Hubble's recent images are providing more accurate measurements of the asteroid’s tilt, which will help the Dawn spacecraft map the protoplanet's body.

The Hubble Space Telescope has taken pictures of a small, strange body that resulted when two suspected asteroids collided within the asteroid belt. A “bizarre” never-before-seen X-pattern has formed in front of a comet-like tail.
